How to Rank Higher On Google (Part 1: On-Page SEO).
Step #1. Work on your On-Page SEO.
The first and most important part of ranking on google is on-page SEO. This makes the most important part of SEO. If you focus on all other seo activities and leave out on-page seo, you can be sure that you will not succeed. On-page seo involves writing content for your website. Such content involves articles, blogs and pages on your website. Such content must contain keywords that will help you rank on google. Without these keyword optimized articles, you will not rank on google. Below are the key elements of on-page seo to focus on.1. Content Optimization.
For content optimization, you need to do keyword research and placement. Proper placement within your article. Write great and new content that is original and adds value to the readers. The content needs to be long for full exploration of ideas. Do not write some short shallow articles. The content must be readable and concise. Avoid complex and hard to read language. Hence keep it as simple as you can. You must link your content internally. You know links on your pages linking to other pages on your website. In addition to that, you need to have a few outbound links to external authoritative websites.2. HTML Tag Optimization.
For html tag optimization, you need to keep the titles under 60 characters. In addition to that, you need to mention the primary keyword in your title. Thus, to let google know what your article/page is all about. Write good meta descriptions for google snippets. Keep it between 150 and 160 characters to appear properly on google snippets. Remember to include keywords in your meta tags. Use structured heading for your pages and blogs. The title should be an H1 heading and then the rest H2, H3, ...etc in that order. Note that you cannot use more than one H1 on the same page. In addition to that, remember to include keywords in those headings. You must optimize your images properly. Use descriptive filenames and use proper alt tags. The alt tags are displayed if the image cannot be loaded. Hence the alt tag must describe the image. Use compressed images and modern image formats like .webp to have fast loading. For the url structure, keep the url short and use keywords in those urls.
